The Walking Dead will be back on our screens in a few days for an extended 10th season

Ahead of The Walking Dead’s return this weekend, series boss Angela Kang spoke to Digital Spy and other media outlets about expanding the “world” of The Walking Dead and what that means for survivors.

Kang stated that while there won’t be “many new faces” in the next six episodes, “some very significant” new characters are expected for the show’s final season.

“There will be a lot more stories in Season 11 where we will meet a lot of new characters, but this will get the train rolling,” she continued.

“Our survivors’ world continues to grow as they meet new groups and new survivors.”

What role these mysterious new characters could play, added Kang: “[Our survivors are] try to figure out what these relationships will be like, whether they are an ally or an enemy. “

Production for season 11 of The Walking Dead began earlier this month, as show producer Kevin Deiboldt confirmed on Twitter. The shooting of its last season was initially postponed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19).
