The horrors are back with a new single

The self-produced Lout serves as the title track and first taste of the band’s upcoming EP, which will be released on March 12th via the Wolf Tone / Virgin Music label and Artist Services. Other songs on the release are Org and Whiplash.

Lout thinks the group is getting a stylist to jump from the hectic garage rock of their 2017 album ‘V’ to a more industrial area and move on to a heavier aesthetic. Singer Faris Badwan said:

“Lout is about the relationship between choice and chance, compulsive risk taking and your luck shoving. As a band, especially live, we always had an aggressive side and when we started writing new songs it became clear that we were going in that direction. “

“There is something that feels like a return to a heavier sound, but it really is a million miles from anything we’ve done,” revealed keyboardist Tom Furse. “Keeping the sound aggressive and keeping the beats heavy was a central tenet, everything seemed to fall around it.”

Bassist Rhys Webb added, “It’s the meanest music we’ve made since ‘Strange House’. An intense barrage of industrial noise. A return to the spirit and attitude of our debut LP, but blasted into the future. “

The song comes with a disturbing short film collaboration between The Horrors and a creative team led by Bunny Kinney. Directed by Jordan Hemingway, the clip was recorded by Furse and the band’s guitarist Joshua Third. Take a look below.

Lout and Org will also be available on a red 7 “which is limited to 1500 copies worldwide.
