The Duchess of Sussex sent a "powerful message" with her outfit in her pregnancy

Duchess Meghan and her husband Prince Harry announced earlier this week that they are expecting their second child. To mark the good news, they posted an intimate black and white portrait of the former ‘Suits’ actress wearing a dress from Carolina Herrera Creative director Wes Gordon when she was 22 months pregnant with their son Archie.

And the designer has commended Meghan for promoting sustainability in fashion by reusing the dress and showing that she still felt “special” and “happy”.

He told, “I did [the dress] for her when she was pregnant with Archie almost two years ago. There’s a reality, it’s 2021, and we have to save a world, right? This is an undeniable crisis and everyone must do their part.

“At Herrera, we are committed to sustainable fabrics. But the most important thing anyone can do for sustainability is to hold onto the pieces that you buy and use them for an extended period of time.

“That’s why I think Meghan is such a powerful message. She wore a dress that is no less beautiful because it is two years old. It doesn’t make her feel less special or less happy. ‘

Wes has known Meghan for several years and is thrilled that the Duchess is expecting it again.

He said, “I’m so happy for your family, it’s so exciting news.”

Meanwhile, Misan Harriman, who took the photo of the couple from afar, recently stated that he wanted the picture to symbolize “steadfastness, hope and love.”

He explained his process behind the photo of Harry, 36, and Meghan, 39, sitting in the grass in front of a large tree with the Duchess’s head resting on the prince’s lap as she cradles her bump. He said, “You attract, you don’t even see the picture, you feel it. They are lost in each other. And the tree in the background and the life that grows around it are incredibly powerful and symbolic.

“[It’s meant to symbolise] Steadfastness, hope and love. Especially for the many women who go through this, this should give them the strength to know that there is light in this dark place. It really means a lot. “
