The 51-year-old presenter had to look after the house and her two children – 16-year-old Phoebe and 11-year-old Amber – while her husband was locked up in a disused castle in Wales for the ITV reality series late last year .
And Tess has now said Vernon was out of the house to help her realize how precious he is to her family.
She said, “The printer, the dishwasher, the dryer [all broke] – basically everything you need for a single parent. I said, “Okay, Vern, I really need you around the house!”

The presenter of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ also described her husband, whom she married in 2003, as her “soul mate”.
Speaking to Woman’s Health UK, she added: “We are soul mates, me and Vernon. It was a ride. And I love him more than ever. “
Meanwhile, Tess recently said she “totally imagined” 46-year-old Vernon while watching him on the show.
She said, “I would say to Phoebe, ‘Your father, doesn’t he look good there?’ I really liked him there, but not when he had that headscarf. “
And the host also said she loved seeing Vernon share his “compassionate qualities” with his roommates.
She explained, “He’s the quiet one in our house, I’m the one who vibrates at a much higher frequency and walks around like a blue bottle in a glass.
“So he’s the calm one and it was nice to see these traits reinforce and just enjoy and watch that compassionate side he has with everyone. It was really nice, it made me appreciate it all. “
