Sam Riley, Natasia Demetriou and Jacob Anderson have joined the cast of 'Timestalker'.

The trio have scaled Alice Lowe’s romantic comedy, which explores a woman’s love for several centuries.

Every cast member, including Lowe, who also plays the lead role, will appear in every historical period of Scotland from the 1860s to the apocalyptic 22nd century.

In a statement, Lowe said, “It’s so exciting to be working on ‘Timestalker’ on a larger scale – but with the same craftsmanship of script and comedy improvisation and brilliant actors.

“This film is my homage to the most romantic epics. Lavish, lush and full of emotion. This film will be shameless. All blush and petticoats and suicide lovers. The romantic era we all need a pinch of now. Romance is not dead. “

The film is Lowe’s second feature film project after ‘Prevenge’ in 2016 and HanWay Films has had worldwide sales with the film.

Gabrielle Stewart, Managing Director of HanWay Films said: “Alice Lowe is part of a wave of exciting new female talent currently emerging from the UK.

“At a time when we all need laughter and romance, she delivers all of that with ‘Timestalker’ but then flips it and undermines it to give us something really fresh, disrespectful and playful. The rulebook is out the window here and anything is possible. “

Sam, 41, previously played the late Joy Division front man Ian Curtis in the 2007 biography “Control” and confessed that he was “terrorized” over the role.

He recalled, “I was absolutely horrified. But then we realized we were behind because we (the fans) played a lot of songs that day. So it went from fear to the realization that we could actually make it. But it was a roller coaster ride. “
