Princess Eugenie Instagram Jack Brooksbank, Princess Eugenie and son
Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank have announced their boy’s name!
“We wanted to introduce you to August Philip Hawke Brooksbank,” wrote Eugenie, 30, a post on Instagram on Saturday that included three new photos of the couple and their son.
“Thank you for so much wonderful news. Our hearts are full of love for this little person, words cannot express them. We are happy to be able to share these photos with you,” she continued.
Choosing their son’s middle name, the couple chose to honor Eugenie’s grandfather, Prince Philip. The Duke of Edinburgh, 99, is currently in hospital to “watch and rest” after “feeling unwell,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement earlier this week. “The doctor is acting with great caution. The Duke remains in good spirits,” a royal source told PEOPLE on Friday.
Eugenie and her sister, Princess Beatrice, are close to their grandparents, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. Eugenie and Jack now live as a family of three near their grandparents at Frogmore Cottage – Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Windsor home. The Sussexes lent Eugenie her home near Windsor Castle, where the monarch and her husband stayed amid the pandemic.
This is the ninth great grandchild for Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip and the first grandchild for Eugenie’s parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.
“Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie was safely rescued by a son today, February 9, 2021, at 8:55 a.m. at Portland Hospital,” the palace said in a statement. “Jack Brooksbank was there.”
“The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Duke of York, Sarah, the Duchess of York and Mr. and Mrs. George Brooksbank have been informed and are delighted with the news,” the statement continued. “Your Royal Highness and your child are fine.”
Eugenie was born at Portland Hospital in London, as was her older sister, Princess Beatrice. Meghan Markle also gave birth to Archie here, who will celebrate his second birthday in May.
Eugenie is “really fine” after having a caesarean section due to her previous spine surgery for scoliosis. A source who has spoken to the new mother since she was born reported PEOPLE in this week’s issue.
The source adds that Eugenie “sounded very pleased and said the baby was a complete dream!”

The first photo of Princess Eugenie and Jack’s baby was shared on the King’s Instagram page on Tuesday. The black and white shot shows her baby’s hand around Eugenie’s thumb while Jack is holding his son’s arm.
30-year-old Eugenie added blue heart emojis and two exclamation marks to the recording to show her arousal.
Eugenie and Jack have been quietly enjoying married life since their lavish wedding at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle in October 2018. On September 25, Eugenie shared her exciting baby news on Instagram with a cute post in which the couple held a pair of fluffy bears in their hand slippers that write, “Jack and I are really looking forward to early 2021 …”

A friend of the couple previously told PEOPLE: “Eugenie is such a fun person, but also very thoughtful. I think she will be more of a bohemian parent, a bit like her mother, while Jack will be calm and composed.”
