Paul Hollywood lost a huge amount of weight thanks to a diet of eggs, homemade bread and soup

The Great British Bake Off judge has announced that he has lost weight in the past few months after starting to watch what he eats and that switching to a freshly baked bread diet has helped him drop the pounds to lose, as he can “control what happens” his food by making it himself.

He said, “I actually lost a stone. In fact just over. I exercise a little – go for a walk and run and do handicrafts … just watch what I really eat. Every morning I have a few eggs from the farm down the street and make my own toast.

“Well, it’s dirty eggs and soldiers, and then I can have a slice of bread with tomato soup in the evening.”

Paul, 55, also said cutting alcohol from his diet had a huge impact on his overall health.

He added, “I have about 1,100 calories a day. I also drink about two liters of water. I haven’t had alcohol in about four months. “

Fellow GBBO judge Prue Leith praised his efforts, saying that while she would like to lose the same weight Paul has, it never works for her.

She quipped, “I always want to lose a stone. In fact, I don’t know a woman who doesn’t want to lose a stone, but I never make it. “

The couple will be judging celebrity baking talents next week when The Great Celebrity Bake Off begins for Channel 4’s “Stand Up To Cancer” fundraiser.

Paul and Prue are accompanied by a number of famous faces, and the first episode of the series features Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley, comedians Rob Beckett and Tom Allen, and singer Alexandra Burke.

And Paul was especially excited to meet Daisy.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, he said, “I was thrilled to have Daisy in my tent as a big Star Wars fan. She taught me how to use a lightsaber. Not with a lightsaber, with a rolling pin! “
