The “Wrecking Ball” hitmaker was devastated in January when her “best friend,” the pit bull mix Mary Jane, died of cancer. Now she has adopted a new pooch, whom she named in tribute to her late canine companion, Angel.
She opened a long Instagram post by quoting the lyrics from her song ‘I Thought I Lost You’ from the Disney movie ‘Bolt’ and wrote: “Almost two months ago, my best friend Mary Jane left this world. I knew she wasn’t gone forever.
“She had lived the body in which she was, but she never said goodbye… .. with her eyes she whispered ‘see you soon, beast’.
“Mary Jane defined loyalty and would never break a promise. I feel how she here with me is blessing this new member of my family, whose name is ‘Angel’, because she was given to me by one of … my Mary. “
The 28 year old singer adopted Angel from the shelter and she is “head over heels in love with the dog”.
She continued, “It breaks my heart to know that Angel slept on concrete for 3 months in an animal shelter before finally making it home. The stigma and stereotype that surrounds pit bulls is tearing me in two. This breed is incomparably loving. Just like humans often override nature.
“I would like to thank @lisachiarelli for their dedication in the fight for the life of pit bulls and for my perfect fit. I’m head over heels in love I’m not sure I’ll ever sleep again because I can’t take my eyes off her!
“Your halo seems visible to all and I can’t wait to show it off! It’s pretty cool to have an angel on a leash! She is illuminated by the aura of the late and great Mary Jane. Long live love It never dies. * ALL THE TEARS YOU SEE ON THIS SLIDE ARE HAPPY (sic) ”
