Since Gina Carano was fired The Mandalorian Through “hideous” social media posts about being conservative in Hollywood and Jewish in Nazi Germany, her former employees of the hit Disney + show have largely refused to comment on the circumstances surrounding the behind their controversial departure. Now Bill Burr is one of the first actors to look directly at the situation.

On a recent episode of The Bill Bert Podcast – – The famous comedian, who was anchored by Burr and Bert Kreischer and had Joe DeRosa as a guest, described Carano as an “absolute sweetheart” as they worked together on an episode of the series’ second season.

“I’m on this damn show. Now I have to see what the hell I’m saying,” said Burr, who plays the clever mercenary Migs Mayfield who fought alongside Carano’s Cara Dune in the action-wrapped episode “The Believer.”

“She was an absolute sweetheart. Super nice fuck person. And you know, whatever, somehow someone is going to take this video and make me say something else and try to get rid of my bald action figure!” He said. (Hasbro ceased production of its Cara Dune action figure after Carano was shot. Migs Mayfield has not yet appeared in action figure form.)

“The way it is out there, it’s a hell of a crazy time. There are people waiting in the weeds,” Burr continued, suggesting that there is a cancel culture industry addicted to celebrity takedowns . “Let’s show he’s human and made a mistake in his past and take that dream away.”

Burr asked, “How do you feel about judging someone so harshly? I’m not talking about the hardcore s *** like sexual assault and rape and stuff. I don’t talk about it. Now it’s going to be like, ‘Hey, you got one ignorant comparison made. ‘There goes your dream. I look at this and say,’ Who the hell is facing that? ‘”

Burr is no stranger to paying homage to controversy with his attitude towards the demolition culture: when he was host Saturday night live For the first time last October, his fiery monologue was aimed at “white women” bringing down the struggle for racial justice and mocking younger people for canceling long-dead stars like John Wayne. His divisive appearance met with both applause and condemnation on social media. One person asked, “How did you manage to be sexist, racist AND homophobic in less than 5 minutes?”

While talking about Carano’s shooting The Bill Bert Podcast, Burr, and Kreischer wondered if future generations will look back on this time in history and regret how some of these celebrities were treated at the time – noting that previously “canceled” people like George W. Bush and Pee-wee Herman having done so her reputation has been rehabilitated. And while both the hosts and their guest made it clear that they disagreed with the content of Carano’s social media posts, DeRosa reiterated the actress’ comments that there is a “double standard” when it comes to political beliefs to express in Hollywood.

“I understand what she was saying. Obviously, any comparison to the Holocaust is a bad comparison … it’s a stupid thing, I disagree,” DeRosa said. “But how is it different from all the people on the left when Trump was elected and they said, ‘He’s like Hitler.’ How is that different? ”Burr gave his guest a verbal thumbs up. “Joe DeRosa with an interesting attitude. Look at you!”

Unlike Carano, Burr can still return to The Mandalorian Filming for Season 3 will begin later this year. But the podcast revealed that his co-star’s fate still preoccupies him. “It’s a strange time,” Burr said of Carano. “Unless she did some really terrible things … or [said] openly racist s ***. If you make a bad comparison … it’s just ignorant … I think there are just too many channels. “
