Jones took on the babysitting role for Borat’s (Sacha Baron Cohen) daughter Tutar (Maria Bakalova) in the 2020 film, which won two awards last night (February 28).
At the virtual event, however, Jones appeared, who presented the film from inside a church via a video link.
“A year ago I was a grandmother here in Oklahoma and serving in my church. Then a man named Borat asked me to babysit his 15-year-old daughter,” she said. “I’ve done my best to teach her that women can be anything they want here in America.”

Following the success of the film, Jones announced that she felt “betrayed” by the filmmakers after believing she was participating in a documentary without realizing that it was a satirical production.
“I feel like she’s from the third world and things like that happen where they sell women. I think this is real, so it made me feel cheated, ”she said.
Jones has since landed the role of angel in a new feature film called Reincarnated Royal by South Park’s Jane Bussman, which is described as “a satirical comedy for high-profile personalities such as self-appointed” mentors “of teenage girls and a designated chief executive”.
“It’s going to be a very entertaining movie,” she said of the role. “I know the world thinks I have this angel thing in my pocket, but it’s going to be very difficult to play the part. I hope the Queen of England thinks I’m an angel because I don’t want to be taken out. “
Borat Subsequent Moviefilm won the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture Musical or Comedy and Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy for Cohen.
Other big winners of the evening were Nomadland and Soul, while The Crown, Schitt’s Creek and The Queen’s Gambit also took multiple wins on the TV side.
