The actor and DJ who portrayed DCI John Luther on the BBC crime series between 2010 and 2019 said he will finally step in front of the camera to see a full-length spin-off.
When asked what will bring him in 2021, Idris told The All-New Capital Weekender: “Aside from making more music, people who love my movie and my stuff, listen, I’m going to do Luther: The Movie .
“I’m super excited and I hope the fans are kind of excited about it. It took a long time to make a movie, so I’m excited about it. “
After the fifth and final series aired in 2019, there has been a lot of hope and speculation about a film version of the TV show. Last year Elba confirmed a film was on after accepting the special award at the Virgin Media BAFTA TV Awards.
“I said I would like to see [Luther] Come to a movie, ”he told the press at the time. “I think this is a movie. I look forward to achieving this. It happens!
“In a movie, the sky is the limit. Obviously, on the storylines, you can be a little braver, maybe international, a little bigger.
