Home Improvement's Zachery Ty Bryan avoids the most serious domestic violence charges

Zachery Ty Bryan, a former child star on the hit ’90s show Handyman, pleaded guilty to two offenses in his domestic violence case.

Bryan, who played Tim Allen’s son Brad on the ABC sitcom, joined the fourth degree threat and assault charges representing domestic violence on Tuesday, Lane District Attorney Patricia W. Perlow of Eugene, Oregon told Yahoo Entertainment .

“Both allegations are Class A offenses,” says Perlow. Bryan was sentenced to 36 months probation under a variety of conditions, including participating in a battery intervention program (Bridges2Safety). He must also “have no contact with the victim”.

Bryan, who was accused of strangling a woman in the October incident, avoided six other charges, including harassment, coercion, strangulation, impairment of reporting, and a second fourth-degree threat and assault charges.

“While Mr Bryan has been charged with additional crimes, including two Class C crimes, it is in the interests of closing the victim and recognizing the backlog of cases we have due to COVID restrictions that lead me to believe that solution in the interests of justice, “says Perlow.

Yahoo Entertainment has contacted Bryan for additional comments through his production company.

On October 16, just two weeks after his split from his 13-year-old wife, Carly Bryan, was announced – Eugene’s police were called to an Oregon house by Bryan’s neighbors at 10 p.m. Officials found the actor / producer outside one apartment while the victim, identified as a 27-year-old woman and related to Bryan, sat in another apartment.

“An investigation found that Bryan attacked the victim during the argument, obstructing her breathing and stealing the victim’s phone when she tried to call 911,” a police spokesman said in a statement at the time.

Bryan was admitted to Lane County Jail at around 1am on October 17th

Bryan, who has since turned off his social media accounts, shares four children with his estranged wife: Gemma, Taylor, Jordana, and Pierce.
