After the ‘Want You Back’ group teased fans over Taylor Swift’s appearance on their new version of ‘Gasoline’, Haim shared the expanded LP with her remix with her close pal, who said the track was her favorite on the 2020 plate.
The expanded album also includes Los Angeles musician Thundercat with a new cut of ‘3 AM’.
How Taylor and Thundercat got on the track, Haim – consisting of the sisters Danielle, Este and Alana Haim – explained on Instagram: “Gasoline (feat. Taylor Swift) + 3 in the morning (feat. Thundercat) is out! Since we released Wimpiii in June, Taylor has always told us that gasoline is her favorite.
When we thought about ways to reinterpret some of the tracks on the record, we immediately thought of them. She brought such amazing ideas and new pictures to the song and really gave it a new life. Thank you @taylorswift for adding your incredible voice and spirit to a track that means so much to us.
We’ve known Thundercat since 2013 and since then we’ve always talked about working on something together. last december we were in the studio and worked on a cover and at the end of the session it was mentioned that we always introduced ourselves as a duet at 3 o’clock.
Minutes later, Thundercat hopped on the song and put its magic twist on it. thanks @thundercatmusic for always making us laugh and sending us the best memes. We’re ready for Dragonball Durag Pt. 2 and special thanks to @matsor and @arielrechtshaid, who put their heart and soul into wimpiii. (sic) ”
Eagle-eyed Swifties had found that the collaboration was registered with ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers), and the trio also shared a snippet of the new version with some backing vocals from the “Cardigan” hitmaker on TikTok.
The siblings posted a clip of them driving in a car with the song exploding on the stereo and captioning it, “Oh oh.”
The pop group referred the fans to TikTok with a tweet that read: “tik tok tik tok tik tok (sic)”
Haim had already posted a black and white snapshot of them in front of the number 13 pump at a gas station with matching wigs, and hitmaker ‘Shake It Off’ previously revealed it was her favorite number.
Haim recently teamed up with the 31-year-old Grammy winner on the track ‘No Body, No Crime’ on her album ‘Evermore’.
