The Love Island star, the UK’s youth mental health ambassador, is determined to help schools identify mental health problems, identify the first signs of potential problems and understand the support available to them.

Dr. Alex said, “The pandemic has undoubtedly had an impact on our young people, and so many of us are concerned about the impact on their mental health and future well-being.

“I’ve heard a lot from parents, teachers and students who were concerned about how the pandemic is affecting the mental health of young people so much. These are real concerns and show why our mission with HEADucation is so important.

“As schools reopen, support to transition back to the classroom is vital. Mental health has never been more important. “

Dr. Alex started the new initiative on ITV’s “Lorraine” on Wednesday (2/24/21) and wants to ensure that children across the country can get back to class without a hitch after the last lockdown.

Mental health problems are for Dr. Alex, whose younger brother Llyr took his own life last year at the age of 19, is extremely personal.

He said, “It really just wipes you off your knees. It was very, very difficult.

“I was grateful to Lorraine again [Kelly] and Dr. Hilary for her kindness. It helped a lot. It’s a big challenge.

“I learned this year that I am much more resilient than I would have ever thought. I’ve had a lot more to do than I ever thought.

“But the grief continues. You can never get over losing a little brother. I’m trying to do something positive. “
