Coronation street icon Frank Mills has died at the age of 93

The London-born actor who played landlord Betty Williams’ husband, Billy, on the ITV soap passed away on February 11th.

Frank also starred in Midsomer Murders, Foyles War, and The Palace.

His obituary in the Maldon Standard reads: “Unfortunately Albert ‘Frank’ Mills passed away on February 11th at the age of 93.

“Beloved father of Paula and Ruth, grandpa of Amy, Phil and Lizi and great-grandfather of Kara and Jack. Due to current Covid-19 restrictions, a full private funeral will be held on Monday March 8th

“If desired, flowers or donations payable to Farleigh Hospice can be sent to GW Hardy & Son, The Green, Finchingfield and Essex CM7 4JS.”

Frank first came to Coronation Street in 1976 when he played Ivor Mortlake.

Billy was Betty Williams’ long-lost love on the ITV soap.

Frank’s other television credits include Grange Hill, Heartbeat, The Bill, and Rumpole of the Bailey.

In 1995 he rejoined the cast as Billy Williams.
