The broadcaster has announced plans to create a marathon show with some of the country’s biggest music and entertainment stars, including Little Mix, Anne-Marie and KSI, to make the UK laugh again and support the annual fundraiser.
Looking ahead to the LOLathon, which will start March 5th and run through March 12th, culminating in a 24-hour marathon show, Scott Mills and Chris Stark said, “We want to make Britain laugh again and this time the LOLathon is bigger and better than before.
“The last time we did a Knock Knock joke at # 10, Chris went to the holy grail of place names ‘Muff’ in Ireland and dressed in a diving outfit, and yes there was this episode of Innuendo Bingo like that we rudely promised never to repeat it.
“But this time the carnage lasts a whole week. Superfan Steve is on vacation to meet Little Mix, the Four Lads in Jeans will make their Live Lounge debut, and Scott will see one for the first time.
“Yes. That happens … see you on March 5th.”
The weeklong initiative aims to bring the country together and aim to celebrate the power of humor in the toughest times.
Aled Haydn Jones, Head of Radio 1, said: “2021 had a difficult start for many of us and we felt it was time to do something to make Britain laugh again.
“The Radio 1 family of hosts is ready to take on this role, and with Scott and Chris preparing for another marathon show, it is sure to be an unmissable week.”
