The Oscar-winning actress appeared on the entertainment series on Friday (February 19) telling attendees to “never give up”.
When Hathaway was asked by drag race star Rosé if she ever had to “fight tooth and nail” for a film, she replied, “How much time do you have?”
She then revealed that she was, in fact, “the ninth pick” for the 2006 comedy drama The Devil Wears Prada, one of her most popular films, in which she plays aspiring journalist Andie Sachs.
“I’ll give you tea,” she said, adding, “I was the ninth choice for Devil Wears Prada. But I got it. Hold on, never give up. “
Anne Hathaway used her experience with “Devil Wears Prada” to advise stars of “RuPaul’s Drag Race”.
Hathaway had previously told Variety that she was “not the first choice” for the role.
It is widely believed that Rachel McAdams was first approached to star in the film alongside Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt.
Other actors offered the role prior to Hathaway include hometown stars Claire Danes and Juliette Lewis.
The film, which grossed $ 327.9 million (£ 233.9 million) in grossing, was Hathaway’s biggest hit at the time.
The actor’s other films include Rachel Getting Married, The Dark Knight Rises and Interstellar.
For her role in Les Misérables, she was named Best Supporting Actress at the 2013 Oscars.
