“Playing against El Salvador gives us an opportunity to face a CONCACAF opponent that we haven’t seen yet and will be a valuable experience,” Berhalter said. “We want to build on this year’s work while continuing to evaluate the player pool as we head into a busy 2021.”
In the November international break Berhalter named just one MLS player in his 24-man roster, so for this game he will only include local players that are not in the 2020 MLS Cup playoffs.
USMNT’s record against El Salvador
The USMNT has a record of 17-1-5 against El Salvador and the first time they faced each other was back in 1977.
This will be the first friendly game they have played against each other in more than a decade. Their most recent meeting was in the quarter-finals of the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup and the USMNT won 2-0.
