Tim Flowers Is Back In Management After Being Appointed As The New Boss Of National League Side Barnet

The Bees are 20th in the National League, with just two wins all season, though his first game in charge set to come in the FA Trophy on Saturday.

Flowers spent almost six years with Rovers before leaving in the summer of 1999, playing 218 times, and part of the side that won the Premier League title in 1994/95.

The goalkeeper hung up his gloves in 2002 before moving into coaching, and subsequently management. There he had led Solihull Moors to the National League play-offs in 2019, only to miss out on promotion, and then be relieved of his duties in February, despite winning 46 of his 95 matches in charge.

Flowers was then appointed as manager of Macclesfield Town in the summer, but never took charge of a competitive game before their liquidation.

Barnet said in a statement they needed to ‘address this decline and make a notable appointment of an experienced and determined manager, who will instil a winning mentality’ after Flowers’ appointment.

As for the 53-year-old, he can’t wait to get started.

“First and foremost I am absolutely delighted to be named manager of Barnet Football Club, it is a Club of rich tradition and I can’t wait to get started. It is a community club, who need the supporters back at the heart of it and I intend to bring the success that they deserve. Looking from the outside, it is a club that needs galvanising and it’ll be my job to do that from the outset,” Flowers said.

“Clearly from the outside, there are things that need changing, the results speak for themselves. I still believe we can make a fist of this season but we must act immediately and begin to turn this season around.

“I am proud to be a part of this football club and the hard work starts now, as we look to turn our season around. I know that the supporters will get right behind us and we will do everything to make them love our football club.”
