According to Forbes, Kylie’s payout is largely a result of her decision to sell a 51 per cent stake in Kylie Cosmetics to luxury beauty conglomerate Coty for a cool $600 million in January.
Aside from the sale, her beauty empire has had a stellar year. Following the launch of a new vertical, Kylie Skin, in May 2019, her monopoly on the celebrity cosmetics market continues to grow. This year has also brought collaborations with her supermodel sister, Kendall Jenner, and the festive season delivered a particularly viral collection with the Dr Seuss character the Grinch.

On Forbes’s list of the 100 highest-paid, behind Kylie in second place is her brother-in-law Kanye West. The musician and fashion entrepreneur made a reported $170 million in 2020, thanks to lucrative deals with Adidas that could ultimately see him reach billionaire status. His wife, and Kylie’s sister, Kim Kardashian West, is at 48 with earnings of $49.5 million.
Kylie is the only female celebrity to make the top 10. Ariana Grande’s $72 million puts her at 17, Taylor Swift is at 25 on the list with $63.5 million, and Billie Eilish is at number 43, having earned $53 million.
The coronavirus pandemic putting a stop to live music and arena tours has seen the overall celebrity haul this year drop in comparison to 2019. Forbes reports that the world’s highest-paid celebrities earned a combined $6.1 billion $200 million less than last year.
